Phantom Abyss is a game where players dive into a series of procedurally-generated temples where they have to reach the end and secure the golden idol. Players will be faced with a wide variety of classic Phantom Abyss Speedrun traps along the way, as well as facing off against the Guardian of the temple who will try to hinder the players progress.

Now the game forces you to take damage, forces you into traps, and worst of all the entire game feels lonely. No more are there ghosts that die in silly ways, now you have to just hope that one of the million rng maps have a ghost on it.

An upgrade well that provides permanent upgrades can be found in the HUB and in the first floor of temples.

Is there in the later course a whip with speed thrust, or how is that explained? I don't want to shout Speedhack, but it sounds very strange.

The game has a lot of potential, had a lot during the beta as well, in both versions of the game I found myself frustrated but at least in the beta I was able to complete the game fully and could avoid traps.

It gets very fast. Some people say that if it is turning it moves slower. As far as I have seen, by the end of the caverns, it will pretty much not be falling behind and will overtake you even if you are running, so you take your headstart and keep running to finish levels after that.

Calm gives you a brief reprieve by banishing the guardian on a single floor, allowing you to focus solely on room hazards. I only recommend picking this up late in your run, especially if you plan to visit the Inferno.

Even though this will probably make the experience slightly more bearable, that’s not something to be praised in the grand scheme of things, as any game can be made better if you add your friends into the mix.
